SEMINOLE – Bernard Anthony Kazmierski III, son of Mary Nebroski Kazmierski and the late Bernard Anthony Kazmierski Jr., of Seminole, has attained the rank of Eagle Scout.

The younger Kazmierski joined Troop 431 at Blessed Sacrament Church as a Cub Scout in first grade. With his father’s guidance, he proceeded through the ranks and participated in all the events and community service available.

He became an Eagle Scout at a board of review in Largo Dec. 9. An Eagle Scout Court of Honor and dinner will honor Bernard and two other Scouts Saturday, April 5, at Blessed Sacrament banquet hall in Seminole.

Kazmierski’s Eagle Scout status is very near and dear to his heart. His father was an Eagle Scout and had encouraged him throughout the years to seek this goal. Unfortunately his father did not get to witness him achieve this level.

For his Eagle Scout project, Kazmierski chose to build an enclosed greenhouse so that the homeless could start seedlings and plants to transfer to their gardens at Pinellas Hope, a subsidiary of the Diocese of St. Petersburg. He drafted the plans, purchased all the necessary supplies and coordinated the Scout troop and volunteers through completion.

He chose this project because his family had helped serve meals there for four years, and he wanted to do a project that would help these homeless people live a better life.

In addition to his service with the Scouts, Kazmierski’s artwork has won awards at the Florida State Fair for six years straight. At Seminole schools, he played the trumpet and tenor sax in the high school band, jazz concerts and was a member of the marching band that was invited to march in the Macy’s annual Thanksgiving Day parade. He has played basketball, soccer and also participated with his family in 5K races.

In Kazmierski’s first year of high school, he decided to attend St. Petersburg Collegiate High School for his remaining three years. He has maintained a GPA of 4.3, is a member of National Honor Society and Phi Theta Kappa. He will graduate with a high school diploma as well as an Associates of Arts degree.

He would like to major in architecture, at a college yet to be chosen.
