SEMINOLE – Staff Sergeant Jeremy Beard, a Seminole High School graduate whose family owns Charlie and Millie’s Pizza, was presented the Audie Murphy award on March 14.
He received the award for valorous achievement during conflict with an armed enemy while assigned as a squad leader in Bravo Company, 3rd Battalion, 7th Infantry regiment in PKS, Logar Province, Afghanistan.
Beard entered the Army March 15, 2007, and attended Infantry Basic Training at Fort Benning, Ga.
His military education includes: Air Assault School, Combativies Level One, Warriors Leader Course, Advanced Leader Course Phase I & II, Combat Lifesaver Course, C-IED Master Trainer Course and completion of the Driver’s Training Course.
Beard has held a variety of positions throughout his career ranging from rifleman to his current position as squad leader. His assignments include C Co 2-6 infantry 2nd BCT, 1st air division, in Baumholder, Germany, and his current position as squad leader in B Co 3-7 infantry 4th IBCT, 3rd infantry division. His overseas assignments include two tours to Iraq for Operation Iraqi Freedom V and New Dawn, and his most recent deployment to Operation Enduring Freedom XIII, Afghanistan.
His awards and decorations include a Bronze Star with “V,” three Army Commendation Medals, four Army Achievement Medals, two Good Conduct Medals, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, two NCO Professional Development Ribbons, Army Service Ribbon, four Overseas Service Ribbons, a Nato Ribbon, a Combat Infantryman’s Badge, an Air Assault Badge and a Driver’s Badge.
Personal achievements include Warriors Leaders course, Commandants List at Advanced Leader Course, graduating Air Assault School in January and receiving a Bronze Star with “V” device for acts of heroism in Afghanistan.
