SEMINOLE – A 20-year-old Seminole man died during a construction accident on April 6 along the Pinellas Trail between 86th Avenue and 96th Place.

David Richard Duquette of 12050 Park Blvd., No. 169, died when he was struck in the head by a backhoe.

According to a sheriff’s report, the backhoe swung around and struck Duquette in the head, sending him to the bottom of the trench. The machine then fell over sideways into the trench, temporarily trapping other workers who managed to crawl out without life-threatening injuries.

The workers were in the area as part of a Pinellas County sewer pipeline project.
