Golf tourney to benefit SHS band
Article published on Tuesday, May 13, 2008
SEMINOLE – The Seminole High School Band Aides Boosters, in conjunction with the St. Petersburg law firm of Coleman and Klymenko, plans the inaugural Seminole Warhawk Band Golf Classic Thursday, May 15, at Seminole Lake Country Club.

“Seminole High School’s band and guard has long been known for its achievements and contributions to the community,” said Jeffrey Coleman. “My law partner, Andy Klymenko, and I are proud to sponsor this event and firmly believe that this is a great opportunity to support the efforts and talents of these young aspiring students. We hope the event will be a great success and that the local golfing community will come out and join us in being a part of this very special day.”

The tournament kicks off at 1 p.m. and includes drawings, contests and much more. The dinner and a silent auction will feature a wide variety of memorabilia and items from area businesses.

The fee is $75 for golf and dinner, and $25 for dinner only. Proceeds will go to the music program.

Hole sponsors are available by calling Michael Sackman at 393-2592 or 588-6164.

To reserve a spot in the tournament, call Mark Blackburn at 393-3077 or e-mail dkbteach@tampabay.rr.com.

SHS band reunion planned in June

The 1978 edition of the Seminole High School Warhawk Band plans its 30th reunion June 26 at 7 p.m. at the Indian Shores Auditorium.

Sam Hayward, the band director in 1978, will be attending.

The 1978 band won the grand championship in the Virginia Beach National Music Festival.

Besides winning the national championship, the band started the annual Seminole Sounds Spectacular. This year the reunion will be dedicated to collecting funds to donate to the current Seminole High band.
