SEMINOLE – City councilors have tentatively agreed to spend $60,000 in 2009 for replacement of stop signs and street signs in the city.
During a workshop discussion June 10, City Manager Frank Edmunds presented a variety of options for street signs, including one proposal for ornamental signs that would have cost twice as much.
However, councilors balked at the additional cost and decided to stay with a basic design that features a blue background. Other options included a white sign with black lettering and a black sign with white lettering.
“Blue is the more municipal color that many of the cities in the county are using, such as Clearwater and Dunedin,” said Edmunds.
The council agreed and gave Edmunds the approval to move forward with the project, which is expected to get official approval at a future council meeting.
Altogether, Director of Public Works Allen Godfrey said the city will replace 394 signs.
