SEMINOLE – In recognition of national Homeless Animals Day, Seminole Mall will be teeming with pets just waiting for loving homes at the Super Adopt-A-Thon, Saturday, Aug. 21, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
More than 20 animal rescue agencies, shelters and organizations will unite to offer their magnificent pets for adoption. The SPCA of Pinellas County is host in collaboration with Seminole Mall management. Supporting animal groups will include Pinellas County Animal Services, St. Petersburg Dog Club, Pinellas Animal Foundation, Humane Society of Pinellas, Pet Safe Haven, Save Our Strays and various other animal rescue groups.
“The SPCA is truly grateful to Seminole Mall for giving us this opportunity to inform the public about the necessity of animal adoption in our area,” said Beth Lockwood, executive director of the SPCA. “Some people feel more comfortable adopting homeless animals in a shopping center environment rather than a shelter; and we hope Seminole’s centralized location will encourage the public to take a look at the many wonderful animals found at various shelters in Pinellas,” said Lockwood.
The Adopt-A-Thon will be hosted by Oldies 104.7 FM. In support of on-air personality Mason Dixon’s life-long commitment to the SPCA and helping homeless pets, a goal has been set to adopt 104 pets in this one-day event.
Amazing animal demonstrations by the SPCA and the Dog Club of St. Petersburg will wow attendees. The Tricky Dog Show also returns for an encore presentation. The Super Adopt-A-Thon promises to be a fun-filled day for the whole family with animals in mind.
