SEMINOLE – City councilors gave approval Aug. 14 to a 22-acre plat known as the Park Street Retail Center at 4900 Park St.
The site is part of a project by the St. Petersburg-based Sembler Corp., which is redeveloping the former Essilor of America property where a Kohl’s Department Store is under construction.
The plat includes four parcels ranging in size from .55 acre to .99 acre. Another 19-acre parcel in the plat will be used for parking. Another 19-acre plat will be used as drainage easement.
Negotiations are presently under way for businesses to occupy the four parcels.
Joshua Beyer, director of development for Sembler, said the 152,000-square-foot Kohl’s store will open Oct. 3.
It will be complemented with Ross For Less, Famous Footwear and Total Wine stores.
Sembler officials plan to include traffic lights at two entrances on Park Street that will work in tandem at the north and south ends of the site.
There also will be an abundance of shade trees in the parking lot, a bus stop pad and shelter on Park Street and cross access to the Sears property next door, which will allow motorists to avoid getting on Park Street.
The Sembler Corp. is a commercial and residential developer in the Southeast and Puerto Rico.
The company’s largest projects include Baywalk in St. Petersburg, Perimeter Place in Atlanta and Winter Garden Village near Orlando.
