SEMINOLE – A new Civitan club is forming in Seminole. Club organizers invite community residents to attend organizational meetings on Thursdays, beginning Thursday, Aug. 26, 6 p.m., at Seminole Community Library.
Civitan is a worldwide organization of community service clubs. Members enjoy
personal and professional development opportunities while helping others. Civitan’s major emphasis is toward helping people with developmental disabilities (DD). Civitan funds the Civitan International Research Center, a research and treatment facility for DD located at the University of Alabama in Birmingham.
Local clubs are involved in a variety of community service projects based on the needs of their communities. Some of the projects which the Seminole Civitan Club will be involved in are support for PARC, sponsoring a Junior Civitan Club and many more community projects as decided by the newly formed club.
The library is at 9600 113th St. N. Call Stephen C. Steenberge at 391-4400.
