SEMINOLE – A Seminole man was arrested and charged with murder Sept. 16 following the fatal stabbing of a St. Petersburg man.
According to a Sheriff’s Office report, Abel Himinez Totiz, 23, confronted and stabbed Bernabi Geron Gomez, 24, at Gomez’s St. Petersburg residence on Sept. 15 following a dispute between the two men, which detectives say could have been over a woman.
Witnesses told detectives the two men worked in a restaurant at John’s Pass and were involved in a shoving match earlier about 4 p.m., which was broken up.
Later that day, between 8 and 9 p.m., Totiz reportedly drove over to Gomez’s apartment and confronted him outside, then began stabbing him as Gomez tried to run away.
Gomez was taken to Bayfront Medical center where he died just after 11 p.m.
Totiz was arrested at his residence where detectives recovered the knife used in the attack.
