Seminole Community Library announces October schedule

SEMINOLE – The following events are scheduled at the Seminole Community Library in October.
Teen programs
Library Youth Advisory Board, Mondays, Oct. 6 and 20, 7 p.m.
Twilight Saga Books Club. Meets once a month September to December to discuss the book in the Twilight Saga. First meeting date was Monday, Sept. 22. “Twilight” by Stephenie Meyer was discussed. Book Club attendees should read “New Moon” prior to the October meeting. Upcoming meetings: “Eclipse,” November and “Breaking Dawn,” December. Registration is required. Call 394-6913 to sign up.
Teen Read Week events
Author Visit and Fear Factor event, Monday, Oct. 13, 5:30 to 8 p.m. Meet local author Rick Osorio and hear him speak about his books “The Great Adventure of Sally Rock” and the “Cretaceous Chicken” and “The Great Adventure of Sally Rock and El Lobo.” A book signing will take place after Osorio’s talk. The Fear Factor event will follow.
Are you brave enough to answer tough trivia questions and compete in the gross foods round? Registration is required if you want to be a participant. Call 394-6913 to sign up. Audience members do not need to register. Prizes will be awarded to the two contestants that earn the most points. Refreshments will be served.
Young Adult Author Visit, Wednesday, Oct. 15, 9:15 am. Young adult author Catherine Gilbert Murdock will be speaking at Osceola High School about her books “Dairy Queen,” “The Off Season” and “Princess Ben.” Murdock also will conduct a writer’s workshop with a small group of students.

Children’s programs
Toddler Storytime (ages 18-36 months), Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10:30 a.m. A 20-minute program of brief picture books, fingerplays and puppet shows. A playtime follows storytime in a separate room.
Preschool Storytime (ages 3-5), Tuesdays, 11 a.m. A 30-minute program of stories, books, songs, movement activities and an occasional short film based on a weekly theme for preschoolers and their caregivers. A playtime follows storytime in a separate room.
Twilight Tales (families), Tuesdays, 6:30 p.m., a 45 to 60 minute program with stories, games, songs, short films and a craft. Jammies, slippers and a favorite stuffed animal are always welcome.
Family movie, Saturdays, 2 p.m. Films for all ages, free popcorn and sodas. Call 394-6913 for titles and information.
Camp Rock party, Monday, Oct. 6, 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Fans of Camp Rock are invited for an hour of fun activities and crafts. Show off your inner Demi Lovato or Jonas Bro and sing, play the guitar or drums on Wii Rock Band. Refreshments will be served.
Boys Time Out (3rd to 5th graders), Tuesday, Oct. 7, 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Find out what you really can do at the library.
School’s Out fun time (kindergarten to fifth grade), Friday, Oct. 17, 10 to 11 a.m. Schools will be closed for the day. Come to the library for a fun hour of board games, card games, crafts and Wii sports.
Hello Kitty celebration, Tuesday, Oct. 28, 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Join other Hello Kitty fans for a short Hello Kitty film, crafts and snacks.
Halloween party (ages 3 to 8) Wednesday, Oct. 29, 3:30 to 4:30 p.m., an hour of Halloween crafts, games, and other not-too-spooky activities. Candy and other goodies will be served. Registration is required. Call the Youth Services department to sign up, 394-6913.
Special events
Sunday Musicale, Sunday, Oct. 19, 3 p.m., Opposite Sax jazz ensemble, Cool jazz sound of Emile and Laura DeCosmo. The husband and wife duo have been entertaining audiences in venues all over Florida.
Author Talk and Book Signing, Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2 p.m. Author Robert Swanson will discuss his book “Lost & Found: A Widower’s Guide To Survival.”
Read Around Pinellas Film and Book Discussion, Thursday, Oct. 9, 2 p.m. The book “Call of the Wild” will be discussed. Film Program: Thursday, Oct. 23, the 1972 film “Call of the Wild” will be shown starring Charlton Heston.
