SEMINOLE – The city of Seminole’s final March municipal election is Tuesday, March 12, 2013.
City councilors made sure of that Oct. 23 when they went through the formality of giving City Manager Frank Edmunds the authority to enter into a contract with the Pinellas Supervisor of Elections to conduct the election for the city.
Among those up for re-election in March are Mayor Jimmy Johnson, along with councilors Thom Barnhorn and Jim Quinn. Qualifying period is Dec. 4-17.
Assuming all three qualify for re-election, they will be seeking terms of three years, seven months.
Following the March election, the city will switch to annual municipal election in November. The first fall election will be Nov. 4, 2014.
In other action, councilors:
• Selected Councilor John Counts as the city’s voting delegate at the National League of Cities business meeting Dec. 1 in Boston. Thomas Barnhorn was named his alternate.
• Nominated Belleair Bluffs City Commissioner Joe Barkley as the city’s representative on the Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority’s board of directors.
