SEMINOLE – A Largo man was shot at by a deputy and arrested for armed burglary after deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle call.

Deputies Barnett Bernoff and Charles Redinger responded to the call in the Harbor Lights Mobile Home Park, 4701 Harbor Lights Drive, Seminole, around 11:23 p.m. Nov. 16 and saw an alleged burglar leaving one of the residences. The suspect left through a door into a carport and Bernoff identified himself and held the suspect at gunpoint, according to a sheriff’s report. As the suspect turned, Bernoff said he saw what he believed to be the barrel of a gun pointed at him, so he fired once, the report said. The bullet did not hit the suspect, but the suspect did go to the ground and complied with the deputies’ further instructions.

No one was hurt. Bernoff has been placed on administrative leave with pay while the incident is under investigation.

The suspect, Michael Barravecchio, 28, was charged with possession of burglary tools and armed burglary. He is being held at the Pinellas County Jail in lieu of $55,000 bond.
