SEMINOLE – Harry Kyne, Seminole’s director of administration and head financial officer, earned the much-coveted distinction as the top financial official for the entire state of Florida.
The award was given as part of the Florida League of Cities’ annual Excellence Awards program. Out of five nominations in this category, Kyne was the only finalist from Pinellas County.
The final winners were announced at an awards banquet on Friday, Nov. 18, at the Hyatt Regency Orlando International Airport Hotel. Mayor Dottie Reeder and City Manager Frank Edmunds accompanied Kyne to the recognition event.
“I think Frank and I were just as excited as he was when Harry won,” said Reeder, who added that the event was similar in elegance to the Academy Awards for the motion picture industry. “It was quite an honor just to get nominated.”
Reeder presented Kyne with a heavy solid marble and cut glass award at the Tuesday, Nov. 22 city council meeting.
Kyne has served more than eight years as the director of administration and finance official. In addition, his financial management helped maintain a low millage rate that has been lowered or maintained for the last eight years. He was also instrumental in creating the Capital Improvement Program.
Kyne recently earned the graduate certificate in public administration from the University of South Florida. He is active in the local community.
This is the second year the League has offered this awards program with a goal to focus public attention on the good things cities do to improve Florida life.
