SEMINOLE – The Florida Fire Marshals and Inspectors Association named Fire Marshal Mike Rodde from the city of Seminole Fire Rescue as Fire Marshal of the Year recently during the organization’s state conference at the Double Tree Resort in Key West.

Interim Fire Chief Terry Tokarz wrote of Rodde in his nomination: “Having a strong belief in customer service both internally and externally from the City. As the Fire Marshal, Mike’s customers include; contractors who require his approval on plan reviews and construction projects, residents in our fire district who rely on an accurate and compassionate fire investigation, firefighters who need assistance with code enforcement issues, inspectors that he supervises for sound management and his wealth of knowledge, committees he participates in to serve in a capacity where knowledge, skills and abilities can be exchanged without ego battles.
"The customers he works with most frequently are, the local and State Fire agencies, Law Enforcement, State of Florida, and insurance companies. Even with the numerous interactions, Mike always manages to take a well balanced leadership role no matter which of his customers he works with and applies the appropriate amount of education, leverage and compromise as is necessary to get the desired outcome.”
