TARPON SPRINGS – Deputies assigned to Pinellas County Sheriff’s Major Accident Investigation Team are investigating a crash that occurred about 12:43 a.m. Wednesday, April 30, at the intersection of U.S. 19 and East Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in Tarpon Springs.
According to investigators, Deputy Brandon Lundy, 27, was traveling northbound on U.S. 19 responding to an emergency call in the area. As he approached the intersection of East Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, he activated his emergency lights to make a left across U.S. 19. Investigators said as Lundy made the left turn, he was struck on the passenger side of the cruiser by Elexa Clark, 19, of Holiday who was driving southbound on U.S. 19.
Clark was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Lundy was not injured in the crash.
Neither alcohol nor speed appear to be a factor in the crash.
