In an effort to have a fair but reasonable “letters to the editor” policy pertaining to the March 2006 city elections, Tampa Bay Newspapers editors have come up with these rules for letters to the editors.
|
• The final deadline to submit elections letters to the newspaper is Feb. 13. No letters regarding candidates or issues on the ballot for the city elections will be published after the Feb. 23-24 issues.
• Each candidate may write one letter to the editor about his or her platform and qualifications.
• Letters should be no longer than 500 words.
The editors reserve the right to correct spelling or grammatical errors in letters and change copy to conform to newspaper standards. We will make a concerted effort not to censor or change the views expressed in any letter, but we will not run any letters that contain fact errors or unsubstantiated allegations.
