Nothing could be finer than spring in Pinellas County Florida. It's a busy time and more fun than you can fit into a single weekend is scheduled throughout the season.
Things slow down a bit during the hot days of summer. But, there's still usually something special to do most every weekend.
A few highlights of events include the annual Taste of Pinellas, featuring the best area chefs have to offer, plus plenty of kid's activities and musical entertainment. John Levique Days, usually scheduled during the first of June, is a three-day festival featuring a pirate invasion, Battle in the Pass and more at John's Pass Village in Maderia Beach. Fourth of July fireworks shows also are a great summertime treat.
And don't forget the baseball: Tampa Bay Rays, Clearwater Threshers and the Dunedin Blue Jays provide plenty of entertainment throughout the summer months.
Fall Events
As the weather cools down, the fun begins to heat up again with a myriad of festivals.
Some of the most famous are Clearwater's Jazz Holiday at Coachman Park (www.clearwaterjazz.com); Grouper Fest at John's Pass Village; Country Jubilee at Heritage Village and Florida Pirate Festival at Coachman Park; Festival of Trees; Death by Chocolate; and more. Plenty of spooktacular events also are planned each fall. Keep on eye of the entertainment and community calendar for all the details.
Winter Events
Ah, the cool, crisp days of winter. Nothing could be finer than Pinellas in the spring, except Pinellas in the winter time. While Floridians may not enjoy a white Christmas, that doesn't stop the festivities or the decorations. One of the biggest highlights of the season are the many night time boat parades that make the season special. Municipalities and neighborhoods deck out in their finest and the night skies are lit with seasonal decor.
Ring in the New Year with First Night in St. Petersburg and an assortment of other fun events. Other highlights of the winter months include the Pinellas Folk Festival at Heritage Village and Florida Clown Day at Largo Central Park.
Winter time needs no special events to make it a fun time of year to get outside and enjoy the mild weather and area beaches.
Discovering Pinellas is an event into itself, regardless of the season.
