Results official Alloway and Wolbert reelected in Madiera Beach

PINELLAS COUNTY - The Canvassing Committee met Saturday morning and certified results from the March 14 Madeira Beach Municipal Election.
Winners declared from unofficial results posted March 14 did not change; however, the record shows a slight change in totals. Click here to view official results.
According to the official results, which include provisional ballots, in the race for Commissioner District 1, incumbent Arnold Alloway received 344 votes, 52.60 percent, to challenger Tim Adams with 310 votes, 47.40 percent.
In the race for Commissioner, District 2, incumbent John Wolbert took in 354 votes, 52.99 percent, to Jane G. Colson's 314 votes, 47.01 percent.
Madeira Beach voters said yes to two charter amendments.
Almost 68 percent of voters said yes to Amendment No. 1, which would amend the city charter by deleting the requirement for candidates to file a written acceptance of nomination within 5 days of the City Clerk's qualifying for the candidate's name to appear on the ballot.
According to official totals, 437 votes, 67.86 percent, were yes, and 207 votes, 32.14 percent were no.
About 71 percent said yes to Amendment No. 2, which amends the city charter to delete transitional provisions. Official results show 457, 71.18 percent, yes votes to 185, 28.82 percent, no votes.
The record shows that 21.02 percent of 3,245 registered voters cast ballots in the March 2006 election.
According to statistics provided by the Supervisor of Elections Office, 31.8 percent of registered voters cast ballots in the March 2005 election; 37.9 percent voted in March 2004; 31.3 percent in 2003; and 25.6 percent in March 2000.
