Results official Armstrong and Branch declared winners in Redington Shores

PINELLAS COUNTY - The Canvassing Committee met Saturday morning and certified results from the March 14 Redington Shores Municipal Election.
Winners declared from unofficial results posted March 14 did not change, and because no provisional ballots were cast, the official numbers are the same. Click here to view official results.
According to the official results, which include provisional ballots, in the race for Mayor-Commissioner, Jody Armstrong received 389 votes, 58.76 percent, to challenger former commissioner Thomas W. Kapper with 273 votes, 41.24 percent.
In the race for Commissioner, District 2, John Branch received 102 votes, 55.74 percent, to former town administrator Donald Lusk with 81 votes, 44.26 percent.
The record shows that 42.12 percent of 1,586 registered voters cast ballots for mayor-commission in the March 2006 election. In the commissioner's race, the turnout was 54.57 percent of 339 registered voters.
According to statistics provided by the Supervisor of Elections Office, 34.7 percent of registered voters in District 3 cast ballots in the March 2004 election. In March 2003, 38.7 percent of all registered voters cast ballots; 15.2 percent in March 2001; and 47.6 percent in March 2000.
