BELLEAIR — Two long-anticipated roadway and drainage improvement projects will be commencing this month in Belleair: the Palmetto Roadway Project and the Pinellas/Ponce Roadway Project.
Both involve full-depth roadway reconstruction with new curbs, upgraded stormwater drainage collection systems, water main replacement, new fire hydrants and street light upgrades. The Pinellas/Ponce project will also include the installation of a baffle box to optimize stormwater quality treatment.
The Palmetto project will run on Palmetto Road from Manatee Road to Ocala Road, and should be completed in the winter of 2020. The Pinellas/Ponce project, running on Ponce de Leon Boulevard at the roundabout, west on Oleander Road and then north to Palmetto Road, should be completed in summer of 2020.
The town will be using the same contractor, Kamminga & Roodvoets, to complete both projects, and setup will begin approximately July 8. While work is underway, the contractor and equipment will be staged at the intersection of Palmview Avenue and Pinellas Road. This location will allow easier access of equipment between both projects in an area that will have relatively low impact on parking and residents’ daily needs.
Residents should plan alternate routes through town during the duration of the projects, as roads within the project limits will be closed during various phases of construction to all but those living on the roads.
Interested parties are encouraged to visit the town’s website, www.townofbelleair.com, or contact project staff at firstname.lastname@example.org or Pinellasemail@example.com. Residents may also call Keith Bodeker, Belleair’s construction project supervisor, directly with any questions at 727-408-4860.
