Donna Plunkett: Thar Be Dragons
As a champion of the lost, lonely and discarded, Clearwater's Donna Plunkett gives life to cast-away materials, creating something from nothing. Right now her materials of choice are recycled packaging and newspapers. The idea for her new exhibition of dragons, large and small, came from old maps that showed the small area in the periphery that stated, “Thar Be Dragons”.
Growing up in Montana, Donna was excited by natural forms, grass bending in the wind, rock formations exposed in road cuts, a tangle of life along the rivers – the whole diversity of nature and man-made wonders, as man is a part of nature too. Her fiber forms, tapestries and rugs have been shown throughout the southeast. She now uses recycled glass, fibers, found materials and rolled papers in her creations. Donna’s new work features Dragons and other creatures made mostly from rolled newspaper.
See the exhibition in person or online. A reception will be held during March's Second Saturday Art Walk.
