New Summer Classes in Writing and Publishing in South Pasadena
SOUTH PASADENA, FL – June 10, 2019— Enjoy working on your novel, memoir, or short story with a professional group of writers and discover tips about writing, publishing, and marketing your book.
Writing workshops are held on the third Saturday of the summer from 1 PM to 5:00 PM. Saturday, June 22, is the first summer session. The introductory session is free. Instructors:
· Julieanna Blackwell of 805Lit.org (introduction to the art of the short story)
· Gerald Coleman (introduction to writing the novel and memoir)
Location: The Hibiscus Room, 7047 Sunset Drive, South Pasadena, FL 33707 Parking is free. ~ 1 PM-5 PM ~ SATURDAY, JUNE 22, 2019. Beverages served. Seating is limited. All participants must register online at Meetup.com/WordSmitten.
Workshop speakers have included nationally known authors including Rita Ciresi (winner of the Flannery O’Connor Short Story Award), Oprah–pick author Connie May Fowler, journalist and author Ben Montgomery, and three-time Penguin Random House YA author Amy Christine Parker, and celebrated novelist Tom Robbins.
Julieanna Blackwell is an editor for 805 Literary and Arts Journal. Her short fiction and essays appear in Lunch Ticket, Slippery Elm Literary Journal, Ragazine CC, and Thrice Fiction Magazine.
Gerry Coleman, a senior editor for WordSmitten, taught college writing and literature courses for three decades. He co-founded and co-directed The Cognitive Project, a government funded Title Three program. The program—designed to use student-oriented activities—empowered students to identify their talents as writers and readers. Through scores of presentations throughout the county, he was able to demonstrate how the power of what we already know can translate into the first steps of a lifetime of effective writing.
