CLEARWATER — An annual open house event will take place Saturday, May 4, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Clearwater Airpark, 1000 N. Hercules Ave., Clearwater.

Open to neighbors and Tampa Bay area residents interested in historic aircraft and other aviation displays, the event will feature something for everyone according to Barbara Cooper, the fixed base operations manager for the airpark.

“Tampa Bay Aviation, the flight school here on the field, will be offering reduced-rate airplane and helicopter rides during the event,” Cooper said. “We are planning on having a Clearwater Police K-9 demonstration, and the Clearwater Fire Department will have some of their equipment here.”

The U.S. Coast Guard will also be there with one of its large helicopters, as long as they don’t have a rescue or other mission. Their large helicopters include either the Sikorsky HH-3H Pelican or the Sikorsky HH-60J Jayhawk, both of which are at Clearwater-St. Petersburg Airport.

“We also have scheduled a bounce house for the kids and we’ll be offering free hot dogs, water, and soft drinks while the supplies last,” Cooper said.
