The Clearwater Police Department will honor its officers who have been killed in the line of duty on Friday, May 17 at 10 a.m.
The 38th annual Fraternal Order of Police Officers Memorial Service will honor four officers — Patrolmen Harry L. Conyers, who died on Jan. 22, 1967; Ronald J. Mahoney, July 13, 1977; John F. Passer, July 12, 1970; and Peter M. Price, Feb., 12, 1969 — is this morning at Station Square Park, 612 Cleveland St.
All four officers died in traffic incidents.
“Remembering the law enforcement officers who lost their lives protecting Clearwater is not an obligation, but an act of love,” Clearwater Police Chief Dan Slaughter said. “Staying connected to the family members of our loved and lost is our greatest honor.”
Slaughter, as well as Clearwater Mayor George N. Cretekos, will make comments during the memorial, which will be held at Station Square Park, 612 Cleveland St. Relatives of the officers are expected to be present.
The service will include a presentation of colors by the Clearwater Police Department and Clearwater Fire Department color guards.
The public is invited.
