SAFETY HARBOR – Safety Harbor is known for its family friendly events, including holiday parades and music festivals, car shows and arts and crafts fests. But for the past 15 years, one event in the city has been strictly for adults only.
The 16th annual Safety Harbor Wine Festival, simply known as Wine Fest, will see thousands of patrons pack the city’s Main Street on Saturday, Nov. 4, 4-11 p.m. Those in attendance will be able to sample hundreds of brands of wines, plus there will be live music, food and merchandise vendors and other fun activities to keep everyone entertained. The festival, which began in 2002 as a community fundraiser, generates revenue for local nonprofits while providing a fun-filled evening for residents and visitors of the city’s quaint downtown, according to officials.
“Wine Festival is one of Safety Harbor’s most exciting and best attended events of the year,” Safety Harbor Mayor Joe Ayoub said in advance of this year’s event. “It is sure to bring out many Safety Harbor residents along with many nonresidents from outside the city. We will have numerous volunteers and vendors set up along Main Street to make sure this event is the most spectacular wine festival ever so be sure to come out and have a great time!”
While admission to Wine Fest is free, drink tickets cost $5, $10 for premium pours. Beer tickets are also available for purchase at several spots downtown. Parking is free, but spaces can be tricky to find in the city’s densely populated downtown district.
“There is plenty of downtown parking available, if you know where to look,” City Manager Matt Spoor said, noting public parking is available in the lot on Eighth Avenue South and on certain side streets off Main Street. Spoor said a parking map is available on the city’s website.
