Coffee with the mayor
LARGO — Join Mayor Woody Brown for coffee and discussion the first Monday of each month from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Venus Restaurant Largo, 2441 W. Bay Drive.

Family Fun Fishing event
LARGO — The Kiwanis Club of Seminole Breakfast will host its annual Family Fun Fishing event Saturday, June 1, 8 to 11 a.m., at Taylor Park, 1100 Eighth Ave. SW.
This event is free for children up to age 14. The club will provide bait and fishing poles, though children can bring their own gear if they’d prefer that. Prizes will be given out in several categories. The event partner, First Home Bank, will provide goodie bags and refreshments.

Vacation Bible School
LARGO — Vacation Bible School will be presented June 3-7 at Christ the King Lutheran Ministries, 11220 Oakhurst Road, Largo.

Kids Camp ‘block party’
LARGO — Crossroads Christian Church will host a free Kids Camp Block Party on Wednesday, June 19, through Friday, June 21, at the church, 1645 Seminole Blvd., from 6-8:30 p.m. each evening.
The event is fun-filled and LEGO-themed. Kids will make crafts, have a snack, play on inflatables, hear about Jesus, sing, dance and play games.
The Block Party is planned for children ages 4 years through fifth grade.

Largo Central Park
Largo Central Park is at 101 Central Park Drive. Within the park are the Central Park Performing Arts Center, 105 Central Park Drive; the Largo Feed Store, 295 Central Park Drive; and the Largo Public Library, 120 Central Park Drive. To contact the library, call 727-587-6715.
Ride the miniature trains
LARGO — Folks can ride miniature trains around Largo Central Park on Saturdays and Sundays, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., during the first full weekend of the month.
Rides are free, though donations are accepted.
Train rides can be accessed via the tan-roofed shelter at the east side of the park.

Historic Largo Feed Store & Museum open house
LARGO — Learn more about Largo’s history by visiting the Historic Largo Feed Store & Museum in Largo Central Park on Saturday, June 1, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The Feed Store, which once used to serve the needs of cattle ranchers and produce growers, hosts a display of memorabilia from Largo's pioneer families carefully protected in handcrafted cases.
There is no admission fee.
Summer reading party
LARGO — Kick off the summer with the Library Space-tacular Summer Reading Party on Monday, June 3, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Largo Public Library.
The free special celebratory event will celebrate all sci-fi shows and movies with snacks, crafts and games, such as the Stormtrooper shootout or the galaxy tie-dye t-shirt station.
Summer reading isn’t just for the children. Visit the library in June and July to register for summer reading, earning prizes for all ages.
Energy Savings and HVAC Workshop
LARGO — Largo Recycles and the Pinellas County Extension will hold an Energy Savings and HVAC Workshop on Tuesday, June 4, at 6:30 p.m., at the Largo Public Library.
The free workshop will teach attendees how to be more energy efficient, which means helping the environment and saving money.
Southwest Recreation Complex
Flick N Float returns to Southwest Pool
LARGO — Bring your favorite float or chair to Southwest Pool on June 21 and July 12 for a Friday night family movie at 6:30 p.m.
Vendors will be on site with snacks for sale. Movies will begin at 7 p.m.
The cost is $5 per person.

Largo Palooza Music Series
LARGO — The Largo Palooza Music Series will continue with a performance by Sock Hop Soda Shop featuring Craig Singleton on Friday, May 31, at 6:30 p.m., at the Community Center.
Activities, which include food trucks, cash bar and after party, begins at 5 p.m.
The cost is $15.
McGough Nature Park

Birds of prey show
LARGO — The Look Alive Bird Show will be each Sunday from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Narrows Environmental Education Center.
Attendees will get a glimpse at the world of Florida’s flighted hunters. The show details the adaptations that raptors use to exploit the natural world for their gain. The show includes owls, hawks, falcons and Sarge, the center’s own bald eagle and the star of the show.
The show is free.
