For the life of me, I cannot understand why the Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority fails to understand that 62 percent of the citizens of Pinellas County voted against Greenlight Pinellas in 2014, which would have raised our sales tax to 8 percent. In addition, the recent attempt to apparently and intentionally misrepresent the mayor of St. Petersburg Beach by saying that their community is in favor of rapid bus transit for the express purpose of getting a federal grant is astonishing. The same misrepresentation happened in 2014 with homeland defense funds being misused for advertising Greenlight Pinellas instead of using the money for homeland security. The money had to be repaid to the federal government at taxpayer expense. We the people deserve not only the truth, but public servants who tell the truth.
