The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, in conjunction with Pinellas Park, St. Petersburg and Gulfport police departments, is hosting the seventh annual Multi-jurisdictional Police Explorer Academy.

The Academy will be held during a two-week period. Week 1 is on June 4, 5, 6 and 7. Week 2 is on June 11, 12, 13 and 14. Graduation will be held June 14 with friends and family welcome to attend.

The academy will be held at the St. Petersburg College - Allstate Center, 3200 34th St. S., St. Petersburg.

The academy offers youth insights into how law enforcement performs its duties and how law enforcement serves the community. The Academy will provide training in areas of communications, ethics, weapons familiarization and much more.

The Academy is open to young men and women between the ages of 14-17. They must pass a background check. They must be enrolled and attending high school in fall of 2019.

Academy participants will need to be able to perform physical exercises. Hold harmless agreements and photo/media releases will be required for all participants.

Youth will need transportation to and from site for the day. Shuttles from designated locations may be available. Only 50 seats are available
