CLEARWATER — A 7-year-old boy struck by a car the evening of April 30 is in stable condition at a local hospital, according to the latest information from Clearwater police.

Police and Clearwater Fire & Rescue responded to a call about 7:36 p.m. about a child on a bicycle who had been struck by vehicle at the Arbors at Belleair Apartments, 2230 Nursery Road.

Police say the boy was riding a bicycle in the parking lot of the apartment complex when he rode into the path of a Nissan Armada, which struck him. The boy was taken to Bayfront Health in St. Petersburg as a trauma alert in critical condition. Police later reported that the boy’s medical condition had been upgraded to stable.

Police say the driver of the Nissan remained at the scene and was cooperating with the investigation.
