SOUTH PASADENA — A Largo man was transported to a local hospital April 25 with life-threatening injuries after his motorcycle crashed into a car at the intersection of Gulfport Boulevard and Pasadena Avenue South in South Pasadena.

According to deputies with the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Major Accident Investigation Team, the crash occurred about 7:15 p.m.

James Bekas, 49, was driving his 2013 Harley Davidson FLHX motorcycle, traveling northbound on Pasadena Avenue South, approaching a green light at the intersection of Gulfport Boulevard South and Pasadena Avenue South.

Sue Henderson, 70, of Gulfport was driving a 2012 Volvo S80 southbound on Pasadena Avenue South. Henderson and was attempting to make an eastbound turn on Gulfport Boulevard South, with a flashing yellow arrow.

Deputies say as Henderson proceeded to make the eastbound turn, she entered the path of Bekas’ motorcycle, and Bekas’ motorcycle struck the passenger side of Henderson’s vehicle.
