DUNEDIN — Pinellas County Sheriff’s detectives arrested a 32-year-old Dunedin woman June 12 on two counts of lewd & lascivious molestation of a 15-year-old girl.
Detectives with the Crimes Against Children Unit began an investigation March 25 after the victim, who is now 19, told the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office about inappropriate sexual contact by a known subject that began in 2014.
Detectives say the victim told them that Heather Matuszek, who was 28 years old at the time, was the victim's church youth leader at the Clearwater Community Church. At the time, it was not uncommon for youth leaders to spend time with their groups outside of the church setting, detectives said.
The victim, who was 15 at the time, said Matuszek spent the night in the victim's bed on two separate occasions. Each time Matuszek kissed the victim's face, rubbed and caressed the victim's arms, body and breast area over her clothing.
The victim alleged there were additional incidents that occurred outside of Pinellas County. These incidents will be investigated by the appropriate law enforcement agencies.
Detectives say Matuszek no longer attends the Clearwater Community Church.
Detectives interviewed Matuszek June 12 at the Sheriff's Administration Building in Largo and she reportedly admitted to the allegations that occurred in Pinellas.
She was arrested and transported to the Pinellas County Jail where she was charged with two felony counts of lewd & lascivious molestation. Bail was set at $40,000. She was released on cash bond the same day.
Detectives say it's possible there are more victims in this case. Anyone who believes a child may be a victim or has information regarding this case is asked to contact Detective Ghosio of the Crimes Against Children Unit at 727-582-6006.
