SEMINOLE —The Greater Seminole Chamber of Commerce will host its 2019 Health & Wellness Expo Friday, April 12, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Peacock Center, 8324 112th St.

This free event will feature health and wellness vendors from throughout the area.

“The Seminole Chamber Health and Wellness Expo allows our local businesses to showcase their products and services to the community through interactive booths, raffles and demonstrations,” said Marianne Fisher, event chair, who works with Safe Harbor Eldercare Services, a sponsor of the event.

Chamber staff decided to reimagine the expo this year, said Barb Thomas, assistant director. The first thing they did was change the name from the Healthy, Wealthy & Wise Expo to the Health & Wellness Expo, she said.

“It just made sense,” she said. “We wanted people to really know what the event was about.”

They added a few new elements to the annual event, as well. Staff is excited to launch a series of informational TED Talks-style presentations throughout the day. These will be short presentations by experts on a variety of topics.

“We wanted to have something going on for people to stay for after they’re doing visiting with our vendors,” Thomas said. “We’ll have speakers on all kinds of subjects.”

The chamber is still seeking presenters, she added.

The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office will also be there with Operation Medicine Cabinet. Attendees are encouraged to bring unused or expired prescription medication for safe disposal.

OneBlood will also be on site with the Big Red Bus and accepting blood donations. Everyone who donates will get a “Hero” hat.

There will also be giveaways throughout the day, Thomas said. Each vendor will offer an item valued at $25 or more for a raffle. There will be a 50/50 drawing.
